The Blues needed an immediate response following their 3-2 defeat to West Ham in mid-week. That was further emphasized after they briefly slipped out of the top four spot briefly as Manchester United defeated Bournemouth.

Chelsea made their intentions known about a win with a strong start right as the game began.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the Blues, latching on to Ross Barkley’s clever pass and steering a left-foot shot into the bottom-right corner.

Just before the break, Chelsea were handed a penalty when Pulisic was brought down in the box by CapoueWillian stepped up to take the penalty and did so with ease.

Ross Barkley added gloss to the score-line, grabbing a goal of his in the final moments of the game.

For Willian, it continues another record-breaking week for the Brazilian. Just recently, he became the first player to score a Premier League goal in every month of the year.

After his latest penalty against Watford, the 31-year-old added even more to his growing list of records. Willian became the first ever Chelsea player to score a penalty in three consecutive Premier League games and the sixth different player to do it in the competition.

That win for Chelsea took them back to fourth place, just one point behind Leicester City in third.

Where Willian will play his football next season is a question that remains up in the air. Chelsea have re-opened contract talks with the forward but there has been no breakthrough yet. Willian is holding out for a three-year deal but the Blues are adamant they would only offer two at most.
