Early on ThursdayReal Madrid announced that they completed a 300,000 euros (£271,000) buyout of Madrid-based club Tacon. The club has now been officially renamed as Real Madrid Femenino.

It was a major decision for Los Blancos as they are one of the major sides in Europe without a women’s football team until date.

Real president Florentino Perez said: “The time has come to build a team that you will all be very proud of.”  We want to contribute to the sport’s development and growth”.

Just as the men’s team for Real Madrid boasts Brazilian talent like the likes of Marcelo and Vinicius Jr, the women’s team is set to follow in the same fashion.

Brazilian duo Thaisa Moreno and Daiane have now been confirmed new additions to the Real Madrid Femenino.

The pair signed for Tacon at the start of last season and it’s reported that they were well aware of Real Madrid’s intention to take-over the club at some time. Hence, it’s expected they are fully on board with the new development.

At 31, Thaisa is expected to bring a lot of experience to the side. The Brazilian has lots of experience playing in Europe and has starred in countries like IcelandSweden, Italy and also the United States.

With Brazil, she boasts similar experience as she has won a number of titles under her belt including two Copa Americas and a Copa do Brazil triumph as well.

For Daiane, she is more of a future prospect being only 22 years of age. However, she boasts decent experience already having starred in Norway and more recently PSG in France before she moved to join Tacon. She also has a Copa America medal to her name in national colours.

Both players have now set their sights on a strong debut finish for their new side next season. Tacon were 10th in the League when the 2019/20 season was ended abruptly due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Real Madrid will play the women’s football competitions from the 2020/21 season, with Real Madrid City as the venue for the team’s matches and training sessions.

Real Madrid Femenino will be made up of the senior and under-16s to under-19s teams.
