Barcelona’s goalless draw against Sevilla on Friday gave Real Madrid the opportunity to capitalize and Zinedine Zidane’s men did just that.

Real Madrid had lot of top performers on the evening but 19-year-old Vinicius was one of the most standout players throughout the game.

Brought into the side for the rested Eden Hazard on the left of Madrid’s front three, Vinicius was the visitors’ liveliest player in the first half and won the penalty for the key breakthrough soon after the restart.

Ramos put Madrid in front from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half. The goal for the Real Madrid captain was a special one as it saw him become the highest scoring defender in La Liga history.

Benzema added a second 20 minutes later but it came with some sort of controversy. Adnan Januzaj had a goal controversially ruled out for Sociedad by VAR just seconds before the ball went in at the other end.

Vinicius Junior was the one brought down and Benzema stepped up to slot the ball calmly past Alex Remiro.

The young Brazilian was Real Madrid’s true Man of the Match, even if Casemiro took home the official award. Vinicius was unstoppable, showing his work rate on both ends of the pitch to win the ball back and create a load of chances for his teammates.

He was a joy to watch, ran at defenders with ease and was very calm in his decision making on the evening.

With lots of games coming thick and fast over the coming weeks, Zidane will be pleased at the plethora of options he has in attack. Eden Hazard was not on the pitch but was barely missed because of Vinicius.

Real Madrid have now made it three wins from three since the La Liga restart. They face Real Mallorca on Wednesday and would be looking to continue that good form to put pressure on Barcelona.
