Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus says he maintains a close bond with the supporters of Palmeiras, where he played before signing for Manchester City.
Jesus signed for City in January 2017 after winning a league title with Palmeiras in Brazil. The striker says he still holds deep affection for the club.
“I never hid that my relationship with Palmeiras fans was very affectionate. I think it's still good today,” he told Globoesporte.
“Despite playing in England, even today I feel on social media the affection that the fans of Palmeiras have for me.
“I saw that I was voted into their team of the decade by the fans and said that it would have been an honour to play for this team and it's reciprocal.
“I have a lot of affection for the club and the fans. The affection and respect for the institution will always remain with me.
That's where I started my journey, so I keep great memories and good friends. Whenever I can, I go to the club to visit these friends.
“Of course, now with the pandemic I cannot go, but in the future I will continue to visit whenever I can.”
