Mari confident about David Luiz partnership
Arsenal defender Pablo Mari says he and fellow centre-half David Luiz are already building a relationship to benefit the club.
Mari arrived on loan from Flamengo in January and played two games alongside Luiz before football was suspended due to COVID-19 in January.
The Spaniard played under Jorge Jesus at Flamengo, a coach much admired by Luiz after their spell together at Benfica.
“I don’t think I’m his idol, but we did talk about the [Copa Libertadores] final. He’s helped me loads: anything I needed, he was there,” Mari told the Guardian.
“David is so intelligent, great in the dressing room, always joking but the first to pull on his overalls to work.
“And we were very comfortable playing alongside each other, which is a good sign: a big club needs the centre-backs to connect.”
