Chelsea Players Risk Fine For Leaving House Without Good Cause, Says Willian
Chelsea winger Willian says that the club have told players they could be fined for leaving the house unnecessarily in the coming days and weeks.
People across the world are being advised to stay at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak and Willian says he and his teammates have strict instructions to observe that protocol.
It comes after his teammate Mason Mount was seen playing 5-a-side football in his local neighbourhood with Chelsea’s Cobham training ground shut down.
“The instructions they passed on to us were that no one should leave the house,” Willian told Esporte Interativo.
"Unless there’s something you need to buy, at the market or at the pharmacy. But we shouldn’t leave the house, not to go to any other type of place.
"And if the club knew something that the players would be leaving, they would fine us. That’s what they said to us.”
The Brazilian also said there is no update on his current contract situation, with his deal due to expire at the end of June.
“No, nothing new, no news. Especially after what’s happening, everything stopped. But so far no news about anything.”
