Fred Hasn’t Given Up on Brazil Call
Manchester United midfielder Fred says he has not given up on his international career despite not having been called for the Seleção in nearly two years.
He was part of the 2016 Copa América and 2018 World Cup squads and drifted in and out of the squad thereafter but has fallen out of favour with Tite.
Fred is enjoying a productive season with United and still has his eyes on further international recognition.
“Every player dreams of representing their country,” says Fred. “I believe a player’s peak is when they go to a World Cup, called up by their national team.
“It’s a stand-out moment being selected for one, and it was one of the most important moments in my career. Unfortunately, last season I lost my place in the Brazilian national team.
“I wasn’t playing regularly here and was still in a process of settling in, but this season has been a lot more positive and I’ve had this continued run of games and I hope this carries on. I’ll continue to do my best and, of course, I hope to return to the national team.”
