‘Libertadores Could Return On May 6 th ’ Says CONMEBOL President
CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez says that the Copa Libertadores could return in early May in the best case scenario.
Like competitions all over the globe, the Copa Libertadores has been suspended indefinitely in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
With cases of the virus set to rise across much of the world, there is currently no date for the resumption of most competitions.
The same is true of the Copa Libertadores, but CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez says South America’s continental competition could return in May in the best case scenario.
“We will continue to evaluate the evolution (of the virus) and how it happens over time. But we also understand that, by forecasting in an ideal scenario, the situation will be under control in May. So, we see this as a possibility to restart Libertadores on May 6 th .”
