Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli says that David Luiz asked Martinelli to score a goal for him during Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Luiz was sent off for a professional foul in the first half after taking Tammy Abraham out in front of goal.
The foul gave Chelsea a penalty, which Jorginho stroked home from the spot. The Gunners remained 1-0 down at half-time, but Martinelli equalised in the second half.
"Mikel Arteta told us to keep playing & we played for David. I spoke with him [Luiz] at half- time & he asked me to score a goal for him!" Martinelli told ESPN Brasil.
"The team is focused & united. Everyone in the team gives me so much confidence. Mikel tells me to run at them, so I got the ball & did what he asked.
Luiz’s red card means he will miss Monday night’s FA Cup 4 th round tie away at Bournemouth as he serves a one-match ban.
