Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli, after the Brazilian scored his 10 th goal of the season at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The 18-year old becomes the first teenager to hit double figures in a season for the Gunners since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

10-man Arsenal twice came from behind to secure a draw at Chelsea, with Martinelli running the length of the pitch to score the first equaliser.

It was the player’s character that most impressed his manager. “To play in this stadium the way he's done, and with 10 men, and to play against Azpilicueta who's in my opinion one of the best defenders in the league… he was going against him every single time.

"You need courage to do that. Then his energy… I wanted to take him off a few times because he looked knackered. He was cramping and the next minute he's sprinting 60 yards again. He absolutely stepped up.”

Martinelli was signed from Brazilian 4 th division side Ituano in the summer and has burst onto the scene in North London.
