Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has backed teammate Roberto Firmino to end his Anfield goalscoring drought ‘sooner or later.’

The Brazilian has 9 Premier League goals this season, but they have all come away from home.

He nearly put an end to that during the Reds’ 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, only to see his effort ruled out by VAR.

A wonderful curled effort looked to have put Liverpool 2-0 ahead, but the effort was chalked off on review due to a foul on David de Gea.

“It's tough, that's VAR for you," Robertson told Sky Sports. "You celebrate the goal and Bobby's thinking 'I'm back at Anfield and have scored again'.

"It was a fantastic strike, and then of course it gets ruled out. That's the way football is going. Bobby's goal at Anfield will come sooner rather than later."
