There has been a long association of Brazilian players making an impact in the Premier League, with the likes of Juninho and Philippe Coutinho having starred in England over the years. So, with the January transfer window now being just a matter of weeks away, which of the current Samba stars could be making the move to English football?

With the January transfer window generally being regarded as a difficult one to do business in, Premier League clubs often look further afield when looking to add to their playing squads. Gabriel Barbosa, Reinier and Evanilson are just some of the names being linked with moves to Premier League sides, with every team wanting to find the next Richarlison, who has starred for both Watford and Everton during his time in England so far.

It is fair to say that Gabriel Barbosa’s time in Europe has so far not gone to plan, with the Inter Milan striker having made just a handful of appearances for the Italian club, while a loan spell at Benfica also ended abruptly. However, still aged just 23, Barbosa has shown his worth for both Santos and Flamengo over the last two years, currently finding himself top of the Brazilian Serie A scoring chart, with 25 goals to his name. Mid-table Newcastle United have been linked with Barbosa, who already have fellow Brazilian Joelinton in their ranks. Think that a new signing will impact their results?

Meanwhile, wonderkid Reinier has long been talked about as the next Brazilian to take the footballing world by storm, with the 17-year-old Flamengo attacking midfielder’s name having been associated with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal over recent weeks. Likened to former favourite Kaka, Reinier certainly has the talent to cut it at the top level, with Premier League clubs having been boosted by the news that Barcelona are currently exploring other avenues. With Brazilian players playing a key role in both Liverpool and City’s roster, the arrival of another would certainly not come as a surprise.

However, should another Brazilian land on Merseyside, it appears more likely that it would be Evanilson, with the young Fluminese striker reportedly being lined up by Jurgen Klopp. The 20-year-old was top scorer in the Brazilian Under-20 league last season, and while he has made just one first team appearance to date, his promise means that he could well replace the departing Rhian Brewster at Anfied.
