Brazil boss Tite says that Argentina skipper Lionel Messi told him to shut up in a brief altercation during the Seleção’s 1-0 defeat in Saudi Arabia.
Messi scored the only goal of the game for Argentina, but Tite became upset after a foul for which he felt Messi ought to have been booked.
When pressed on the incident, Tite said, “I only complained because he was should have got a card and he told me to shut up, then I told him to shut up. And it’s over.
“If you don’t have a strong referee, this game will swallow you. But it’s a game situation, he’s extraordinary. Argentina scored first and after a while looked for Messi. But that should have been a card and I was right to complain.”
Tite was also not convinced by the decision to award a penalty to Argentina either. Messi converted the spot kick to win the game.
“I did not see it clearly, I know there were comments that it was not a penalty. For me it was not a penalty. But credit to Argentina, they won the game.”
