Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has labelled Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli as “the talent of the century.”
The Reds’ boss saw the Brazilian score twice in a riveting 5-5 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
They were the 18-year old’s 6th and 7th strikes for the Gunners and he has taken the team by storm in his appearances in cup matches.
Initially considered a wide forward, Martinelli has played as a centre-forward in the Europa League and Carabao Cups with great success.
Liverpool fielded 18-year old central defender Sepp van den Berg against Arsenal and Klopp admits that Martinelli gave him a hard time.
“Sepp van den Berg as well, he played an incredible game. That’s really difficult to deal with these guys.
“Martinelli’s pretty much the same age but he’s a talent of the century, he’s an incredible striker, so it’s really difficult.”
