Arsenal defender Rob Holding has paid tribute to the impact of 18-year old Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli has scored three goals in his last two starts for the Gunners and is likely to start again in tonight’s Europa League match against Portuguese side Vitoria Guimarães.

“He never stops running, as a centre-half it’s a nightmare. You want someone who’ll give up but he never does that,” Holding said in the pre-match press conference.

“Some of the headed goals he has scored in the games against Nottingham Forest and Standard Liege have been really good.

“He’s really close with Emiliano Martinz, he translates for him when he’s picking up English… He’s making an effort which is important.”

Martinelli scored twice in the previous Europa League game against Standard Liege at the Emirates in a 4-0 victory.

He has played as a centre-forward in the cup games, but with Alex Lacazette returning from injury, he may play in his more natural wide-forward role tonight.
