Brazil forward Neymar says that he never imagined he would hit a century of caps for his country, as he prepares for his 100 th Brazil appearance against Senegal later today.

The game in Singapore sees the PSG attacker reach a milestone that he never thought would be possible at the outset of his career.

“There are many disappointments, defeats, many mistakes are made. But if you're a guy that battles after all you can redeem your mistakes.

“I am very happy to reach this mark. Not in the best dreams did I imagine that this could happen.”

The player also insists his form, though interrupted by injury, has not faltered during his controversial spell at Paris Saint Germain.

“There have been more than three months of injury treatment in the last two years. This gets in the way of any player.

“But if you look at all the games and numbers you will see that I never stopped playing football. Unfortunately in a player’s life this can occur.

“You have to have a good head and be prepared to get over it. I seek this for this season, to be fit, to hope that nothing bad happens. At the end of the season you can be sure that I will be among the best.”
