Guardiola Understands Why Gabriel Jesus Is Unhappy
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he perfectly understands why Gabriel Jesus is unhappy with the lack of game time he is getting at the club.
Jesus told Globo this week that he was dissatisfied with playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero, even though he understood the manager’s dilemma.
Guardiola says he understands and praised Jesus’ mentality, “He’s special. I read the interview and it was perfect. It was incredibly respectful, like Gabriel is.
“Of course he wants to play. He’s the number nine for the national team, Brazil. He’s maybe the only striker in the world at his level that has to have this mentality.
“Every time he went on the pitch – one second, two minutes, 90 minutes – he plays like an animal. I understand completely.
“I try but no player, not only Gabriel, will be happy if they don’t play regularly. That is what it is. It’s an easy answer. If he plays he will be happy, if he doesn’t play he will not be happy.”
