Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he can only operate with one centre-forward, following an interview in which Jesus said he was unhappy about playing time.

Jesus has played understudy to Aguero and the Brazilian told Globo this week that he was anxious about not playing often enough.

Guardiola explained that playing Aguero and Jesus together isn’t viable, “I try to let both players play as much as possible. Both are incredible players.

“Sergio could have scored five goals against Watford and Gabriel could have scored three or four against Preston. Gabriel was incredible in the (FA Cup) final against Watford and against Shakhtar.

“Normally I don’t play with two strikers. I did in the last minutes at Norwich and it wasn’t good. So it’s difficult for me to tell one you don’t play.

“In some games Gabriel gives me something Sergio can’t, and other games Sergio gives us something Gabriel cannot. Both guys are incredible.”
