Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson hailed Roberto Firmino’s role from the bench after the Brazilian provided two magical assists in the Reds’ 3-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
Liverpool trailed, but had to call for Firmino, who had been rested after two international friendlies in the US last week, after just 30 minutes.
The Brazilian had a huge impact as the league leaders cruised to a 3-1 victory. Left-back Andy Robertson was thankful for Firmino’s cameo.
“We’re gutted for big Div coming off – hopefully it’s not too serious but he had to come off at that time,” said Robertson. “But to bring Bobby on is always a nice sub to have.
“Obviously he came back late from internationals and the manager decided to put him on the bench. When he came on he showed his class and could probably have had three or four assists.
“He had a big impact and that’s what we needed. Luckily we had enough for the three points.”
