According to what we currently see in the Brazilian top tier, the title race is going to be more exciting than ever since there are five teams within the range of five points. We are approaching the middle of the season and Sunday will bring us some very interesting clashes.

*Fortaleza v Goias

Newly promoted hosts are struggling to keep their heads above the water, but they are somehow four points ahead of the relegation zone. However, they cannot be proud of their recent form as Fortaleza managed to pick up only four points in the last five occasions. They have some troubles when playing in front of their fans recently as they lost two matches in a row. They will certainly need to improve performances in front of their crowd in order to remain away from the danger.

The visitors are three points ahead of their rivals and they are currently safe in the middle of the table. They are sitting on the 11th place, which can bring them the ticket for the Copa Sudamericana next season, but things may change a lot until the end of the season. Goias managed to remain undefeated in the last two matches and get four valuable points. However, they would need to tighten up their defence and improve finishing at the same time. Kayke and the lads are not putting good performances when playing away from home, as they managed to get back home with a win just once from eight occasions.

When it comes to their head to head ratio, both teams managed to book three wins over their rivals, while two matches ended with a draw. Interestingly, their latest clashes were pretty efficient since the crowd was able to enjoy at least three goals in last three occasions. None of the last three matches ended with a draw.

The visitors improved their game lately, however their away performances are not encouraging at all. Fortaleza need to search for the points in this one and we believe this match might end with a draw.

*Flamengo v Palmeiras

This is the biggest derby match of the round as two giants and title contenders face each other. The hosts are in the series of excellent results as they managed to book four wins in the last five rounds, and they are also enjoying a streak of three straight victories. Jorge Jesus took over the bench, while Gabriel Barbosa and Giorgian De Arrascaeta are lethal in front of the oppositions’ goalkeepers. Flamengo is the most efficient side in the competition as they are producing a bit more than two goals per match in average. Mengao are simply impeccable when playing at Maracana as they didn’t allow a single point to their rivals. They are currently sitting on the top of the table, having the same number of points as Santos and three more than their rivals Palmeiras, however they’ve played one game more.

The visitors are not enjoying a very good period as they haven’t celebrated in the Serie A in the last six rounds. Although they’ve lost just once during that run, Palmeiras also tied four draws in a row. Bruno Henrique and the lads are not too efficient, however their defending is one of the best in the league as Palmeiras allowed only 10 goals. They suffered just one defeat at away grounds this season, but they haven’t celebrated a victory in the last four outings.

Their head to head clashes have been very tight recently and in the last five occasions, these two sides split points four times

This is going to be a true derby clash and Flamengo may take advantage of their good impulse to book their first victory over Palmeiras since 2014. Odds at 2.15 for the home win is something that shouldn’t be missed. Although the visitors are very disciplined in the back, we are expecting to see goals in both nets and the odds of 2.00 will double your stake.

*Corinthians v Atletico Mineiro

Another derby clash is on the menu on Sunday evening as the winner of this one may remain in the title race. Corinthians are sitting on the 5th spot being one point ahead of their rivals and five points behind the top placed Flamengo. The hosts are enjoying a very good run of eleven games without tasting a defeat in all competitions. Fabio Carille’s side is playing very disciplined football and although they haven’t been too efficient, their defence is the tightest in the league. They still haven’t lost a match in front of their fans, but the visitors managed to remain undefeated three times.

Atletico Mineiro are in a quite bad momentum as they tied two defeats in a row which pushed them down to the 6th place. The visitors didn’t manage to find the back of the net in those two matches, so Franco di Santo and the lads need to improve their finishing. In the last five matches played away from home, the visitors suffered three defeats and they need to stabilize their game in order to remain competitive for the very top of the table.

In their last five head to head clashes, both teams managed to celebrate a win once. During that period, just one match went over 2.5 margin.

Corinthians are searching for another good result which should extend their unbeatable run. We believe they are going to deliver a win, and the odds of 1.95 are pretty attractive. On the other hand, if you prefer goals market, there shouldn’t be more than two and the odds are around 1.50.

*Cruzeiro v Vasco da Gama

This is the round of derby matches, however in this one the rivals are going to fight for the better chance for survival. Cruzeiro are having an ultimately disappointing season as they are just one point ahead of the relegation zone. They celebrated only three times in 16 rounds, however there are some signs of improvement as Rogerio Ceni’s side picked up five points in the last three matches. The hosts need to improve their finishing as they are one of the most inefficient sides in the Serie A. They shouldn’t spill points when playing in front of their fans and good displays in front of their fans may get them to the safe zone.

Vasco are sneaking around the middle of the table and they are five points ahead of their rivals. The visitors lost just once in the last five rounds and that good run moved them away from danger. Bruno Cesar and the lads managed to pick up four points from the last two away matches and book the first away win in the season at the same time.

Visiting teams have been more successful in their head to head clashes lately as home team celebrated just one victory in the last nine occasions.

This is going to be a very interesting clash and both sides have their chances of getting a good result. Draw will pay 3.50 and we believe that might be a good choice. Although the crowd saw goals in both nets just once in the last six occasions, this time we believe the nets won’t stay intact and the price of 2.00 is something that you should try.
