Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus says he is hoping for more game time with City this season after playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero last season.

The Brazilian won the Copa América with Brazil this summer and scored in May’s FA Cup Final victory over Watford at Wembley.

However, he was largely a back-up in City’s league title win, with Sergio Aguero preferred in the number 9 role.

Jesus, who has taken the number 9 shirt this season,is hoping for more from the 2019-20
season.

“Last season unfortunately I could not have as many minutes as the previous one, but when I had the opportunity and was called to play I think I played well.

“Before the Copa America I had said that I was better prepared not only as a player but also mentally prepared. This is how I come back from a short but very important vacation.

“The three weeks I stayed in Sao Paulo were three amazing weeks. It makes me come back lighter, more confident.”
