Alisson philosophical after Community Shield
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was philosophical about Sunday’s penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
City took the lead through Raheem Sterling before Joel Matip equalised in the second half to take the game to penalties.
City triumphed with Alisson’s international teammate Gabriel Jesus slotting home the winning penalty.
Alisson, however, was not too concerned about the defeat. “Penalties are always tricky, calling a lottery is unworthy of the work of the winner who is successful in penalties.
“But you have to count on luck in the shots, make the right decisions, goalkeepers choose the right corners and the right tactics for that moment.
“Our team in the first half was far below what we expected, what we can offer. The goal we conceded was total lack of attention, we worked on that during the week.
“But in the second half we reacted positively. We demonstrated quality to be able to score. The result was relatively fair, either team could have won in normal time.”
