Newcastle’s new Brazilian striker Joelinton says he is ready to take on the responsibility of the Magpies’ number 9 shirt.
Signed from Hoffenheim for a club record deal this summer, expectations are significant for Joelinton for a goal shy Newcastle side.
“The feeling is of happiness, pride. I think about everything I’ve been through and today I’m getting here. It was all worth it, and it’s just the beginning,” Joelinton told Lance.
“I’m happy, motivated, I hope to return all the confidence that the club is investing in me. All the love I’ve received since I arrived.
“The responsibility is great, but I’m confident and prepared to take on that responsibility. There are some Spaniards in the group, I can talk because I don’t speak English well yet.
“There is a player who played with me at Hoffenheim, the group welcomed me, it’s very united. The city is also very cool, the fans have welcomed me very well since the day I arrived. Even before that I was getting messages, so it’s a really nice affection.”
