Richarlison On Cloud Nine Following Copa América Triumph
Brazil forward Richarlison says that winning the Copa América with the Seleção on home soil represents the realisation of a lifelong dream.
The Everton man scored a penalty in the 3-1 victory over Peru in the final and he says the tournament was one he’ll remember for the rest of his life.
“It is the dream of any child growing up in Brazil to wear this jersey that has so much history,” Richarlison told evertonfc.com.
"There are five stars on the jersey [to represent the country's five World Cup successes] and it is true that there is a lot of pressure playing for the team but it is up to us to manage it.
“We wanted to deliver a beautiful Copa in front of our home supporters and win for our country. It was wonderful to celebrate with my family in the Maracana."
Richarlison started the opening game of the tournament, before missing games after succumbing to the mumps. He returned as a substitute in the final.
