Brazil coach Tite has confirmed that Fernandinho is not fit enough to start tonight’s Copa América quarter-final against Paraguay.

The Manchester City man was expected to take the place of the suspended Casemiro, but, despite training with the team for the last two days, he is not considered fit enough.

Instead, Napoli midfielder Allan will come into the side. “Fernandinho is out of the game, Allan will play,” confirmed Tite.

“Fernandinho should be fit for the next game if we qualify. He would have played if he were in normal condition.

Tite spoke a little about how he sees Allan playing the role, “I want the Allan of Napoli with Ancelotti, not the Allan we saw with Sarri.

“I want him more as the deepest player, to play in a double pivot. I see him as a positional player, but with good mobility.

“Remember that Arthur is alongside him. Allan and Arthur will cover and give Coutinho the freedom in front of them. Allan will be the first man in midfield.”
