‘My Season Was Not What I Wanted’ Admits Coutinho
Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho has admitted that he endured a poor season with the club in 2018-19, with rumours that he may leave the club growing.
There is some suggestion that he and Neymar may be involved in a swap deal after an underwhelming 18 months at the Nou Camp for Coutinho.
Currently on Copa América duty with Brazil, Coutinho confessed, “Really, my season was not as good as I wanted, as I had expected.
“Of course my will is always to do the best, but let this serve as an example so that I fight even more, to concentrate even more in order to succeed.
“Here with Brazil, the responsibility is always the same, you need to get here and perform well. Not having a good season does not change anything, in fact it even increases my desire to play even better.”
He refused to be drawn on speculation over his future, however, “Many things that are reported are not true. I'm totally focused on the Seleção here.
“But we do not know what will happen. I have a contract with Barcelona, my will is to win in this club, but I'm totally focused. Like I said, we never know what's going to happen.”
