Brazil midfielder Fernandinho has been passed fit for Wednesday’s Copa América quarter- final clash with Paraguay.

The Manchester City man had been nursing a knee injury which kept him out of Saturday’s 5-0 win over Peru in São Paulo.

Now Brazil face Paraguay in Porto Alegre for a potential semi-final clash against Argentina and Fernandinho trained normally with the squad on Monday.

His fitness represents a big boost for Tite, who will be without Casemiro for the match, after the Madrid man picked up a second yellow card of the tournament against Peru.

Tite has confirmed that Fernandinho will replace Casemiro in midfield. This occurrence happened at last year’s World Cup in Russia too.

Casemiro was suspended and Fernandinho came into the team but endured a torrid evening. He and his family were targeted on social media by angry fans.

As a result, Fernandinho took a year out of representing his country, but has returned for this tournament.
