Thiago Silva and Everton Philosophical About Fan Dissatisfaction
Brazil defender Thiago Silva was philosophical about his team feeling the ire of the Salvador crowd as they drew 0-0 with Venezuela in the Copa América on Tuesday.
The side were booed off at half-time and full-time and during the second half, the home fans started to ironically cheer Venezuela’s passing moves.
“When you do not win it is difficult,” reflected Thiago Silva. “Booing is normal in football, but we must recognize our defensive work, recovering all the positives.
“At the front, we rushed a few times, missed passes, but the team played well. But when it does not make it seems that everything was wrong.”
Grêmio forward Everton came on as a second half substitute and he urged his teammates to forget about the dissatisfaction of the locals.
“We have to leave the boos aside. Unfortunately we could not come away with the victory. We know the responsibility of playing a Copa America at home, but this cannot interfere and create pressure. We need to focus on the game against Peru.”
