Arsenal Agree Deal for Gabriel Martinelli
Arsenal have agreed a deal for 18-year old Ituano winger Gabriel Martinelli and will announce the transfer imminently, according to Globo.
The Gunners have been linked with Martinelli since the spring, when his performances in the Campeonato Paulista caught the eye.
Martinelli has an Italian passport, so does not need a work permit. Arsenal have had a deal agreed in principle for some time, but could not formalise until his 18 th birthday.
Martinelli turned 18 this week and Globo say a deal worth around £7m has been agreed and will be announced by the London club in the coming days.
The player recently formalised paperwork around his Italian passport to ease the path for a European club to sign him. He has 10 goals and 6 assists in 31 games for Ituano.
Gabriel will become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer. It is not clear whether Edu Gaspar, who will shortly join the club as Technical Director, was involved in recruiting the player.
