Arthur Copa América Place Under Threat As Knee Injury Concerns Grow
Brazil midfielder Arthur remains under observation and still could be cut from the Seleção’s Copa América squad after obtaining a knee injury on Sunday.
The Barcelona midfielder had to be carried off during the first half of the 7-0 win over Honduras after taking a blow to the knee.
Arthur underwent a scan but the CBF have not disclosed the results and will continue to monitor him. He certainly will not be available for the tournament opener against Bolivia on Friday.
He has not taken part in training yet this week, with Fernandinho and Allan likely to contest his spot in the starting XI.
Brazil have not yet made a decision as to whether to cut Arthur from the squad and call-up a late replacement.
With most European seasons having finished some weeks ago, Tite is reluctant to call up a ‘cold’ player. The deadline for the decision is 9.30pm on Thursday evening, Brazilian time
