Filipe Luis Will Consider Club Future After Copa América
Brazil left-back Filipe Luís says he will not decide his club future until after Copa América after his contract at Atletico Madrid expired.
Technically, Luis will be a free agent at the end of the month and the player says he would be open to a return to Brazil, but won’t decide until after the tournament.
“My contract is up. Either I can stay at Atletico or leave. The doors are open, as I have said at other times.
“I talked to the committee here with Brazil: I will not speculate, I will not say yes to any club before the Copa America, out of respect for the national team.
“Any questions that you (the press) have, everyone has my cell phone number. Before you say anything or speculate, you can ask me.”
The player says he is open to returning to his native Brazil, “I do not close any door. I played in Brazil in 2003 and 2004, in Figueirense. I know what you have in Brazil.
“In Europe also there are bad locker rooms and bad pitches. When you make the decision, you know what's on your mind.
“But I would like one day to come back here. Brazil is poor in some respects, but better than in Europe in others. In any case, I'll only think about it after the Copa America.”
