Tite Recalled Willian to Brazil Squad Via Facetime
Brazil boss Tite said he contacted Willian through Facetime to inform him of his late call-up for the Copa América squad.
Willian was on holiday in Israel when he got the call to replace Neymar, who picked up an ankle injury during a 2-0 friendly win over Qatar recently.
Tite said he needed to see Willian’s eyes as he discussed the prospect of calling him into the squad at the 11th hour.
“Edu [Gaspar, director] got in touch with me, I talked to him, he contacted me, but I wanted to see his face. So I called him on Facetime. I need a player of his characteristics.
“I wanted to talk. He said 'I've already packed all of my bags. I put everything in, I closed it and whenever you want me, I will come.
“He came from the open heart. It's the healthiest way, to avoid the technical virtues and look into the player’s eyes.”
