Luiz Content To Play Final in Baku
David Luiz says he has no issue with this year’s Europa League Final being played in the capital city of Azerbaijan, Baku.
The decision to award the city the final has come under increased scrutiny due to poor ticket sales owing to distance, cost and inaccessibility from London.
There has been further criticism as Arsenal have taken the decision not to select Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is Armenian, over security concerns.
But Luiz told the Evening Standard that the venue doesn’t hold any particular concerns for him, “I had the opportunity to be there in Azerbaijan, it's a nice country.
“It was nice to be there playing against Qarabag and we have to respect the decisions. I am just here to be a player, not here to be here for something else.
“We will try to do our best and we have been fighting to be there since the start of the competition I wish to be in Baku so I want to be there now!"
