Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus admits that he has found sitting on the bench frustrating this season. The Brazilian started and scored in City’s 6-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup Final on Saturday.

He says he understood the situation with Aguero when he arrived and that he is still happy at City, despite having not played much this season. “I think it was a learning season, after all that happened. Taking my best as a person and a professional. I want to learn.

“Sometimes people comment, especially in Brazil, about me being on the bench. I know I’m on the bench not because of a bad phase of mine, but because Agüero is scoring a lot of goals, he is helping us. I know when I come in I’ll help. But I have to respect that, of course.

“I am not a veteran, I am not experienced, but I have been learning. Of course I’m not always happy. But every day I am strong in training. That’s the life of a player. When he does not play, he thinks of a thousand things. But I am very happy at City, the club that gave me this opportunity.

“When I decided to come, I already knew I had Agüero, who is a legend of the club. The club’s top scorer. I knew it would not be easy, as it never was. I arrived in the middle of the season, I arrived well and I tried.

“This season I’m not playing much, but I come with patience. When I’m at home, I think about the future. Sometimes I get real and realise that I’m only 22 years old. I’ll keep learning.”
