Tite has announced his squad for June and July’s Copa América, taking place on home soil. Liverpool’s Fabinho is the surprise omission, while Fernandinho is called for the first time since last year’s World Cup.

Fernandinho took some time out of the Seleção after being the target for abuse for his performance in the World Cup quarter-final exit to Belgium. Dani Alves is called, but Real Madrid left-back Marcelo is not.

From the Premier League, Liverpool’s Alisson and Roberto Firmino are called, Manchester City’s Ederson, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho too, while Everton’s Richarlison makes the squad. There is no place for Chelsea winger Willian or Spurs forward Lucas Moura.

Full squad: Alisson, Ederson, Cassio, Dani Alves, Fágner, Thiago Silva, João Miranda, Marquinhos, Eder Militão, Filipe Luis, Alex Sandro, Fernandinho, Casemiro, Arthur, Allan, Lucas Paquetá, Coutinho,
Neymar, Everton, David Neres, Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus, Richarlison.
