Watford boss Javi Gracia says he is hopeful of convincing goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes to have one more year with the Hornets.

The Brazilian is set to start in Saturday’s FA Cup Final against Manchester City in what could be his final game before retirement.

But the Watford boss says the decision is not final yet and he hopes to persuade Gomes to sign a one year contract.

“First of all, I don't know if it will be the last game,” Gracia told the Evening Standard. “I would like to speak with him and the club and see if he is able to carry on next season, we have to speak about that.”

Gracia refused to confirm that he will start with Gomes, who has been selected ahead of regular first choice Ben Foster for all cup games this season.

“I only focus on the game and try to choose the best keeper for the game, after that we will see what happens in the future.”
