Andreas Pereira Relishing McTominay Competition
Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira says he is relishing his central midfield competition with United academy product Scott McTominay.
McTominay put in an impressive performance against Barcelona in the Champions League recently and with Ander Herrera set to depart in the summer, competition is intense to fill his position.
“I’m very happy for him because he’s like me, coming through the Academy as a young player,” he told the Manchester United website. “I think there’s good competition and everyone has their own abilities – we’re not all the same type of players.”
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he sees Pereira in a more advanced position in the coming years, which the Brazilian is delighted to hear.
“I’ve always played in a no.8 or no.10 position and I’m very happy that the manager could see it in me,” he tells United Review. “I’m just looking forward to playing that role.”
