Tite Coy About Vinicius Junior Copa América Chances
Brazil boss Tite refused to guarantee Vinicius Junior’s selection for the Copa América in June. The Real Madrid teenager was chosen to unveil Brazil’s new white away shirt, but Tite says nothing should be read into that regards the player’s participation in June.
“It means if he plays well, he will be selected,” Tite joked when quizzed on Vinicius’ involvement in the promotional event. “I see a bigger picture. I see equal possibilities. Because if I were a player, I would like to have an opportunity in the National Team.
“Soon there is an important competition and not being in the National Team, that is bad. It causes damage to the club, by the value of the player, it damages the player and the coach as well.”
Vinicius was selected for March friendlies against Panama and Czech Republic, but had to pull out due to injury, which means he remains uncapped. But Tite is still expected to select him for the Copa América should he prove his fitness before the end of the season.
