Brazil boss Tite was reduced to tears after Brazil’s World Cup quarter-final defeat to Belgium last summer, Edu Gaspar has revealed.

Edu has become Tite’s right-hand man in recent years and holds the position of Technical Coordinator for the Seleção.

He revealed to ESPN’s ‘Bola da Vez’ programme that the scenes in the Brazil dressing room were funereal after elimination against Belgium in Russia last year.

“It was such a deep sadness, a pain so deep. Almost everyone cried: Tite, one on the other, I, the coaching staff, the players all with our heads bowed crying, trying to give strength to the other.

“There was a great optimism, there was no prediction of a defeat like that, a confidence optimism, going through Belgium, because we were going step by step, evolving during the competition, but after the defeat we were shocked.”
