Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes says he is ‘desperate’ to win the FA Cup with Watford this season. The 37 year old is set to retire in the summer and he wants to go out on a high.

The Brazilian is the Hornets’ second choice behind Ben Foster, but is first choice for cup competitions, giving him a rare opportunity to finish his career with a cup final.

Watford will face Wolves at Wembley in April in the semi-final following their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Manchester City play Brighton in the other semi.

“I’m desperate to win this trophy. When I started to play football I used to win a lot but I’m a long time now without a trophy, so I’m missing that. I think this is my last chance of another trophy.

“I played in the semi-final with Tottenham and we lost to Portsmouth and I didn’t play when we got there with Watford a few years ago. This cup is famous – everyone knows about it.

“We understand that in the past seasons we could have done better. To do better you have to be focused and sometimes previously we lost our focus.”
