Lucas Moura Admits He Nearly Joined Manchester United
Spurs winger Lucas Moura says he was very close to joining Manchester United back in 2013, but decided to choose PSG at the last minute.
Lucas was playing for São Paulo in his native Brazil and says everything was in place to join United, but a call from PSG supremo Leonardo changed his mind at the last moment.
Moura told FourFourTwo magazine, “Representatives of Inter were in talks with Sao Paulo, but Manchester United were the ones I came very close to joining.
“Everything was agreed, but then there was a last-minute call from Leonardo [PSG’s director of football at the time], who told me about this ambitious new project.
“PSG were buying top-quality players and there were a few other Brazilians involved, too. So I chose PSG, mainly because I thought the adaptation would be easier alongside many of my compatriots.”
Moura spent 4 years at PSG before joining Tottenham in January 2018, after the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe limited his first team opportunities.
