Richarlison Admits Silva Watford Departure Was Tough for Him
Everton forward Richarlison admits that Marco Silva’s departure from Watford last season represented a tough time for the player. Silva brought Richarlison to Watford from Fluminense in 2017, before he was sacked by the club.
Silva eventually pitched up at Everton and made Richarlison one of his first signings. The Brazilian striker said it was a relief to be reunited with the Portuguese boss and admits it became hard for him at Watford after Silva left.
“He was the guy who called me calling to come and play in England, and the time I got word that he was gone, it was difficult. I was asleep, Gomes told me. I even tweeted a sad, nervous emoji on twitter,” he told Goal.com.
“The work I did at Watford counted. If I had not done a good job with him at Watford, he was not going to buy me, he knows the confidence he's giving me, he's like a father to me, he brought me to England.
“He called me to take me to Watford, gave me a lot of confidence to play in the Premier League and I'm very happy to be able to help him on the pitch. He helps me a lot.”
