Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino says his side will try to use the pain of consecutive defeats to drive them to victory against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

The Reds’ lost in the league for the first time away at Manchester City last week, while a B team were eliminated from the FA Cup by Wolves.

Firmino says his team will use the disappointment to spark themselves back into form- starting this weekend against Chris Hughton’s Brighton.

“It’ll be a difficult game. Losing is obviously always bad; nobody likes to lose, and certainly not me. But now we’ve got to bounce back.

“We’ve worked hard every day so we’re prepared for the weekend. It’ll be a big game, a difficult game and we’ll do our best to get the three points.”

The Reds are 4 points clear at the top of the league, but the Brazilian says his team are well aware of the cost of letting that lead diminish further.

“That’s what the Premier League is all about – it’s intensely competitive. If the team at the top stutters, the second place will overtake them. We know we can’t go to sleep and lose silly points. We must maintain our focus until the end of the season.
