Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said that Gabriel Jesus’ family moving to England has been so important for the player, who kickstarted his season with 2 goals in the 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday.
Jesus had struggled for form this campaign, having only scored 1 Premier League goal prior to Saturday. After bagging a brace against Everton, Pep was quick to play up the role of his family’s arrival in Manchester.
“I don't think he's got a girlfriend, so to have his family here is so important and I think it's going to help him,” Guardiola said. “His family will be so important to him. The effort Gabriel put in — he always does that.
Guardiola was also happy to hear the player conduct a post match interview in English for the first time. “But what I also like is it's the first I listened to him in the media speaking English. That's cool.
“I insist on them having to learn English because sometimes I have the feeling he maybe doesn't understand me. So it's important to have that feeling that he's speaking English much better.”
