Neymar Becomes All Time Top Brazilian Scorer in the Champions League
PSG forward Neymar became the top scoring Brazilian in the Champions League last night after his goal helped the Ligue 1 side to a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Parc des Princes.
The effort, which out PSG 2-0 ahead in the first half, takes him to 32 Champions League goals, surpassing Kaka’s total of 32.
Neymar’s goals have come in just 56 games, compared to Kaka’s 72. Rivaldo is in 3 rd place with 27 goals in 82 Champions League appearances.
Neymar had been a doubt for the match after sitting out the 1-0 win over Toulouse at the weekend with a groin injury.
But the Brazilian admitted that, while he was not 100% fit, there was no way he could afford to miss a crunch game.
““I was not at 100% but it was an important match so injured or not I had to be there,” the Seleção captain said.
PSG now have to beat Red Star Belgrade in Serbia in a fortnight and hope that Liverpool don’t beat Napoli 1-0 or by 2 clear goals in order to qualify for the knockout phase.
