Brazil captain Neymar says he hopes to help Everton forward Richarlison to become a fixture in the Seleção team. Richarlison has been rewarded for his form so far this season with three call ups to Tite’s squad.
He has already struck up a good relationship with skipper Neymar, who is happy to try and guide the young forward, “Everybody knows Richarlison is a really great player and a really nice guy,” Neymar told evertontv.
“I hope I can help him achieve his goals – help him inside the pitch and outside the pitch, as a friend and colleague. If he continues to be as smart as he has shown he is, keeps up his hard work and continues to work well, then he can be a great player in the future.
“He has the ability to decide matches and to play well in great matches, as he is doing now for Everton. I expect him to continue growing up and keep developing in his career.” The pair indulged in a ‘pigeon dance’ celebration when Richarlison scored against El Salvador.
“My son is already asking me to do Richarlison’s pigeon dance!” Neymar joked. Tite was also effusive in his praise of the forward, who joined Watford from Fluminense in the summer of 2017, before heading to Everton in July.
“We could see Richarlison had potential since he was a boy," said Tite. “I talked with Carlos Amadeu who was his coach in the Under-20 Brazil national team and he told me all the time he had this vital characteristic: he is strong in his mind, mentally strong.”
