Brazil winger Douglas Costa says he and Tite spoke about a spitting incident fpr his club Juventus against Sassuolo back in September.

After an altercation, Costa appeared to spit into the face of Sassuolo midfielder Di Francesco. Costa was left out of Brazil’s squad for October friendlies.

He has been recalled for matches against Uruguay and Cameroon this month and admits he and Tite had a frank discussion about the incident.

“We really talked. With Tite it is always eye to eye, he said what he thinks, I respected that and apologized for what happened. It was a day when I was not happy, I was not myself.

“I had never committed this act in 10 years of my career, I hope to leave it in the past. The club also talked to me. I messed up.”

Costa has a fight for one of the wide berths, with the likes of Neymar, Coutinho, Willian, Richarlison and Lucas Paquetá vying for the positions.

“Brazil has always had great players, regardless of being in my position. The more players, the better. I am glad and satisfied to be here and able to dispute the position,” Costa concluded.
