Exposure Behind Bernard’s Decision To Sign With Everton
Everton winger Bernard says he decided to sign for Everton this summer because of the audiences the Premier League attracts. Bernard spent 5 years at Shakhtar Donetsk and says he wants to stay in Europe to show his talent.
The player was a free agent this summer and was linked to a number of Brazilian clubs, but Bernard told UOL that he wanted to play in the most watched league in the world and prove himself fully in Europe.
“I’ve been a long time practically hidden in Shakhtar, with only six Champions League games a year to be seen. In England it’s different, because the whole world watches the Premier League. It’s time for me to enjoy and show on the pitch what I know and offer the best for Everton.
“Palmeiras are a huge club and have been doing very well in all competitions. They lost in the Copa do Brasil, but had an excellent campaign. Several clubs in Brazil came to me, but I thought it wasn’t the time to go back. I still wanted to enjoy European football.”
