Everton winger Bernard says he is not yet thinking about a recall to the Brazilian national team, after making a positive start to life with Everton. The 25-year old has not played for his country since the 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-final.

The ex-Shakhtar man has seen his club teammate Richarlison enter the international fray, while Lucas Moura was recently recalled to the squad after impressing in a Spurs shirt. Bernard told UOL he isn’t thinking about international recognition just yet.

“I have to take it one step at a time, I’ve been at Everton for almost two months, it’s very little time. I need to focus here first for, who knows, things happen naturally.

Of course, any player who is called up one day and then not again, has the desire to return to the national team. I will work at Everton and meanwhile, cheer for Richarlison, who’s doing very well in a Brazil shirt.”
