Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus says that he is happy to consign an unsatisfactory World Cup campaign to the past after opening the scoring in the Seleção’s 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.

Jesus was criticised heavily for failing to score in Russia, as Brazil exited at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Belgium. The City star admits he was upset about how the tournament went.

"Of course I was very [upset]," Jesus told Sportv . "I went from the tournament and stayed at my mother's house, I stayed at home with my family.

"Of course, it was not the Cup of my dreams, I hoped to have done more. Unfortunately, we did not win it, but I hope things will work again from now on. I was happy to play and score tonight."
